basic reference re: Me

For those who want to know:

I am in a PhD program for English Lit at a prestigious and oftentimes snowy University/town in boondocks, USA. Though I specialize specifically in Victorian Lit (even more specifically: how the Victorians responded to the “opening” of Japan and how that happens in lit), I have a long and passionate history with Shakespeare that is very vehement and you should know that before you (and I encourage any brave soul to do this, it’s a fun game) send me an Ask about Antony & Cleopatra any particular play.

Besides lit, I also have strong, capslock-y feelings about a few particular subjects: theater, television, comic books, sci fi, sitcoms, gender, activism, politics, and about a gazillion other things.

For my own reference (because I am working under the assumption that no on else cares so much), here are some fandoms I consider my Forever Loves: Sherlock Holmes (ANY iteration, there can be space ships and gender-bending, my feels show up regardless), Marvel comics/movies, Terry Pratchett and Discworld, Stoppard, Doctor Who, Slings & Arrows, Star Trek, Farscape, Inception, The Good Wife, West Wing, Sports Night, Harry Potter, Life on Mars, Psych, White Collar, Suits, Gilmore Girls, Gargoyles, Buffy, Firefly, The Social Network, M*A*S*H*, and Parks and Rec.

For the more obscure fandoms that I dip a toe into when I find them: The Hour, Pirates of Dark Water, Willow (1988), Fifth Element, Newsradio, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Friends, Rurouni Kenshin, X-Files, Dollhouse, MST3K, and Robin Hobb (except Fool’s Fate because she already killed of my favorite character once, I can’t watch her do it again).

I’d love to hear from anyone, especially new followers.
